The return of a favourite series

A couple or so posts ago I mentioned that a particular fanfiction has made an impact on my writing, and be one of the primary reasons why I've gone ahead and commenced work on a series of stories set within the same universe. This fanfic is Atlantis DSV by James Ward, by far the most thoughtout pieces of work that equals the episodes of the show that inspired it.

The series is based on the seaQuest franchise, created by Rockne S. O'Bannon and aired throughout the mid 90s, the series mixed it up with realistic science fiction and cutting edge drama. It starred the late Roy Scheider as Nathan Bridger, captain of the high-tech submarine seaQuest DSV 4600, Jonathan Brandis as Lucas Wolenczak, a teenaged computer genius, and Stephanie Beacham as Kristin Westphalen, the chief medical officer and head of the seaQuest science department. Steven Spielberg expressed interest in the project and served as one of the show's executive producers during the first two seasons.

Roy Scheider narrated the voiceover during the opening credits of each first-season episode:
The 21st century: mankind has colonized the last unexplored region on Earth; the ocean. As captain of the seaQuest and its crew, we are its guardians, for beneath the surface lies the future.

Sixth novel length episode in a fanfic series based on seaQuest DSV
I will not give you any spoilers, as am in the process of reading CROSSFIRE in between working on my own. Hoping to do that once I'm finished.
